OLIVIER LEFLAIVE
FRANCE
Burgundy
Founded in 1984 in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet, Maison Olivier Leflaive was built on a simple yet demanding conviction: to craft great wines while deeply respecting the terroirs from which they originate. Heir to a long Burgundian family tradition, Olivier Leflaive has successfully combined heritage, a spirit of sharing, and a modern vision to build a house that is now recognized among the leading references of the region.
Over the decades, the estate has grown patiently, cluster by cluster, beginning with its first parcels in Puligny-Montrachet Les Meix. Today, the domaine cultivates 26 hectares of vineyards across 82 climats, primarily in Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, and Chassagne-Montrachet, including several emblematic Premier and Grand Cru sites of the Côte de Beaune.
True to the spirit of Burgundy, Maison Olivier Leflaive follows a parcel-by-parcel approach, allowing the unique personality of each climat to be expressed. In the vineyards, the teams work in harmony with the rhythm of the seasons, with particular attention paid to the respect of soils and the environment.
Driven by a strong commitment to sharing and transmission, the house also collaborates with carefully selected partner growers. Together, they contribute to showcasing the diversity of Burgundy’s terroirs, from the Côte de Beaune to the Côte Chalonnaise and the Chablis region.
Today, Olivier Leflaive wines are recognized around the world for their elegance, precision, and their ability to faithfully express the soul of Burgundy’s great terroirs.
Vinification and Aging
Remaining faithful to its parcel-based philosophy, Maison Olivier Leflaive adapts its winemaking approach to preserve the identity of each terroir. Depending on the desired style, the grapes are pressed or macerated with precision, after which the wines begin fermentation and aging directly in barrels.
The wines are aged in French oak barrels, primarily sourced from the forests of the Vosges, Allier, and Jura, in vessels ranging from 228 to 500 liters. Over several months, the wines evolve slowly, revealing their full complexity and the pure expression of their origin.
This work is closely overseen by Solène Panigai, Technical Director, and Philippe Grillet, the estate’s oenologist, who regularly taste each wine to carefully adjust aging decisions on a case-by-case basis.
